CHEER COACHES NEEDED JUNE 21 CPR TRAINING ELKS 6PM JUNE 27 ALL COACHES & JR DEMOS CLINIC JUNE 30 MANDATORY CHEER PARENTS & PARTICIPANT MEETING 6PM @ ELKS JULY 24 NEW HEAD COACH TRAINING SEPT 11 FLAG & MITEY MIGHT FUNDAY COMPETITIONS: JR PEE WEE , PEE WEE & MIDGETS JERSEY SHORE OCT 10TH CENTRAL QUAL OCT 31TH GARDEN STATE NOV 6TH OR 7TH REGIONALS NOV 13TH OR 14TH A Message from the Cheer Director — Adrienne Dayton PLACEMENT ON A CHEER SQUAD Pop Warner places great emphasis on the importance of matching players to reduce the risk of injury and avoid unfair Competitive advantages. GEPW’s Board and Coaches are liable to ensure reasonable care is taken to prevent risks of harm to themselves or others. One of the duties is to match participants of similar competitive levels. According to National Pop Warner Risk Management (Part H) “Pop Warner organizations are liable to ensure teams are appropriately match based on size, age, skill, and experience of sports athletes. Organizations will match their athletes by using reasonable guidelines.” The following guidelines should be considered when placement on a team: Safety Skill Experience Age Maturity Progression Years in the Program It is important to: 1. Have knowledge of a skill and experience level of the athlete prior to performing a skill. This is done to insure safety for all. 2. Understand the physical and emotional conditions of an athlete that may restrict participation. 3. Progression can the athlete progress with her team-mates without risk of injury to herself or others. 4. Age appropriate and is that athlete mature enough to compete at similar competitive levels. 5. Has that athlete been in the program long enough to understand What is expected of her. * A squad, regardless of the ages of its spirit participants, must be rostered, certified and registered in the same age division as the football team with which it is associated (e.g., it cannot cheer at midget games and compete as a junior midget cheer squad). The only exception to this rule is a squad registered as “Cheer/Dance without Football”. Reference Rule 1 - Formation of Squads for the definition of Cheer/Dance without Football.
